Well, Then, What Do I Do with
All These Copies of This Book
I Just Paid to Have Printed?

I hope you didn't buy too many.  A couple of hundred are quite a few for a poet to dispose of.  I get best results (and they are not outstanding) by mailing announcements to friends, enemies, to anyone with whom I may have corresponded or to whom I am fairly certain my name is known.  But I get a lot of mail and am better known than most beginning poets.  The announcements give a sample of the poetry, enough so that a person can guess whether he might be interested in reading more.  I don't try to describe it, or praise it, or quote comments about it.  I know of no graceful way to toot my horn.  Some few buy – maybe because they like my poetry and maybe because they'd just like to help me out.
